Atlanta's Preeminent CFO of the Year is David Gamsey
The CFO Forum, Atlanta's premier professional organization for financial leaders, presented its fifth annual Preeminence Award to David Gamsey, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for First Advantage Corporation (NASDAQ:FA), at its annual holiday party at Intown Golf Club on December 1, 2022. The award recognizes Atlanta's most outstanding CFO for 2022.
Gamsey was among several candidates who earned nominations from their peers. “I am honored to receive the CFO Preeminence Award for 2022 and to be recognized by such a respected and prestigious organization and my peers in the industry,” David Gamsey, EVP and CFO at First Advantage said. “I am proud of all that First Advantage has accomplished in such a short amount of time. This award is truly a testament to our commitment to offering innovative technology and screening solutions to our global customers and making our clients and employees our top priorities.”
Gamsey joined First Advantage in 2016 and is responsible for all aspects of the Company's domestic and international accounting and finance organizations. Gamsey was instrumental in the Company’s June 2021 $440 million IPO, February 2021 $880 million senior debt refinancing and January 2020 $1.6 billion sale to Silver Lake Partners. He also leads the Company’s M&A function and played a critical role in the negotiation, execution and integration of three strategic acquisitions over the past 12 months.
Prior to First Advantage, Gamsey served as Chief Financial Officer at Air Serv Corporation, a private equity-backed global leader in outsourced services to the airline industry. Air Serv was sold to ABM Industries in 2012. After the sale, Gamsey was promoted to Chief Operating Officer at Air Serv, where he led an organization of more than 12,000 employees with operations at 44 airports in the United States and 12 in the United Kingdom.
First Advantage CEO, Scott Staples shared, “I am pleased to hear and proud that David has been formally recognized for all the wonderful work he has done throughout his career. We are beyond fortunate to have David serve as our CFO at First Advantage. He has been an integral part of the executive team and a key player in our transformation over the years.”
The Preeminence Award takes its name from a book by Glen Jackson, co-founder of Jackson Spalding, Georgia's largest independent marketing communications agency. "Preeminence: What It Means and How to Sustain It" articulates seven key characteristics that Jackson observes in successful organizations: trust, relationship building, marketing communications, assessment, the cultural torch of servant leadership, fanatical focus, and remarkable resiliency. “We are honored to be able to give this award to David,” says Chris White, co-founder of the CFO Forum and Vice Chairman of Savills. “When we envisioned this award, we created governance around the selection process, not usually seen in these types of awards, by forming a selection committee of CFOs. We utilized the seven pillars from Glen’s book to drive our decision. As evident in the interview process, David truly represents all of the preeminent characteristics identified, and we are proud to have him as our 2022 winner.”Other finalists for this year’s CFO Forum Preeminence Award were Elizabeth “Betsy” Higgins, CFO of Oglethorpe Power, and Scott Humphrey, CFO of FOX Factory.
